Twice now I've been driving on the beach and the ESC & Traction Control lights have come on (no check engine light). It happened both times when the sand got deeper. The truck was rocking from side to side a bit but wasn't struggling at all. Lights stayed for the drive home (back in 2H). Next day I started up the truck, everything back to normal.

Appreciate any info/thoughts/advice

Always disable TC when driving on sand.
It'll always kick in and in soft enough sand bog you.

Can't answer why they stayed on, but try running with it off and see if it happens again

The Traction Control warning light came on with the ESC warning light. I don't think we're talking about the same thing

When you hit the traction control button you get a light saying its off, but stability control is still on and will still srew you in the sand. You need to long press the traction control button (about 5s) until you see the stability control (ESC) message pop up on the dash cluster telling you its off.
