Long story short, my truck is one place, my key is in another. (Currently, I'm no where near either.)

I know I can start my truck with my phone, but I can I actually finish the "start" cycle without the keyfob inside the truck? (In my '22 Elandtra, I can place the phone in "the spot" and it acts as a digital key.) I don't have wireless charging in my truck, so if that's needed, it won't work for me.

Thanks for any answers!

With the GM vehicles you must have the key fob bottom line.

Hyundai has a digital key program that you have to download and sign up for and car can be started without the key fob. GM has no such program, therefore you must have the key fob present to actually start and drive your vehicle.

Like others said, unfortunately no. I wish GM had the option to use your phone as the key. It's really convenient. When we go camping or kayaking, ect. I always take both Fobs. I always am worried mine will get damaged and I'll be SOL, lol. Phone as key option would atleast be a good backup.
BMW has a digital key for some models that you can carry (looks like a credit card) I carried in my wallet.

Yep, My wife has a Tesla. Works the same way. Phone is your key but you have a credit card style key as a back up. I wished my truck worked the same way. Seems like a trivial thing, But it really is very convenient. I'm probably a little bias though. I have keyless entry on everything and my phone can control all my lights, locks, garage doors, cameras, ect in my house, lol

Ditto. It's kinda cool being very "connected," but becoming dependent on it is a major downfall.

As an aside, it's pretty nice that Samsung basically clones a phone during the SmartSwitch after an upgrade. All the smart stuff, combined with a new phone, used to be a total nightmare!

So here's one for you,
My wife started her New SUV and was parked next to the house close to the door . She was going shopping 80 miles away, she decided to change her coat and in the process she left her fob in her original coat.. The truck was still running... Well she was able to drive her truck 80 miles to the parking lot of her destination there she pushed the start button to turn it off hit the door lock button. And went in the store.
She come back out from shopping and hit the door unlock and nothing so she started to look for her fob...nothing couldn't find it. She called OnStar thinking it was in the car. They unlocked the door and she looked all thru it .. nothing
So she called me for a 160 mile rescue..lol
Moral to the story...Yes you can drive your new Chevy without a fob!!!!
True story and well documented at General Motors!

Yes, you can drive your GM vehicle without the key fob AFTER IT IS LEGITIMATELY AND COMPLETELY STARTED with the key fob in close proximity. You can only do this once, or until you shut the vehicle off. After the vehicle is turned off, you need the key fob to complete the start cycle to be able to drive the vehicle again.

It's a shame this needs to be explained word for word, but I guess that is what this world has come to.

Thats what I was saying, I thought it would give you one more start as a message comes up in the DIC. "No Key detected, One More Start Before Disabled" or something to that effect.
